Yellow School Bus Passes

TfGM will continue to monitor guidance issued by government in preparation for the new term.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, TfGM won’t be issuing Yellow School Bus passes for the start of the new academic year in September.

Instead, all Yellow School Buses will operate as regular dedicated school buses, meaning no passes will be needed and any child can board any service. This will allow more students to use the buses at a time when the overall capacity on the network is still likely to be reduced.

Students will still need an igo card to pay concessionary fares.

Further information is available on the TfGM website via the link https://tfgm.com/tickets-and-passes/bus-school-bus-services.

Yellow Bus Scheme Covid-19 plans 2020/21

We have been informed by Transport for Greater Manchester that in light of the current Covid-19 Situation, TFGM are currently reviewing how the Yellow bus scheme will operate for the 2020/2021 academic year and as such no applications are being taken at this time. Further updates will be sent to school which will be passed onto parents when they become available.

Author Visit – Martin Griffins

On Thursday 18th December, Year 8s had a special treat when Manchester author, Martin Griffin, aka Fletcher Moss, came in to talk to them.  The whole year group was captivated when he gave his very engaging talk, suggesting important tips on writing narratives.

Martin, who has written three novels for young adults and numerous books for teachers was so interesting and inspiring, Year 8 pupils were queuing up at the end to buy his latest novel, Payback, and take selfies with him!

Martin has left some copies of Payback with Mrs Hargreaves in Room 34, priced just £5 if anyone wishes to buy one.

St Monica’s art work in Prestwich Art Festival

St.Monica’s student art work has been selected for exhibition in the Prestwich Arts festival Community Art Trial – ‘Home is Where the Art is’. Work is on display across the trail from 22 – 29th September.

Our work can be found in Prestiwch Library (Longfield Centre), on the door of Footprint Travel (Bury New Road – near the Village) & inside Rose & Lee Vintage (Bury New Road – near the village).

If you would also like to follow the trail, please find the link to the map below. You can also find the other festival events here.

If you do go and visit please can you tag a photo with #PAF19arttrail and #stmonicas & the relevant business you see the work exhibited in – this will give us more coverage. We are the only local high school exhibiting & this really does celebrate the achievements of our students.
