Optimnem is a site teaching French, German and Spanish using spatial learning strategies and native-speaking tutors. This is the site of Ashcombe language college in Surrey. It is a well of information and resources for language teachers. The great thing about this site is its sets of videos of native speakers (French, German and Spanish)accompanied by exercises which cover 16 topics, mainly for GCSE students.
It also provides an excellent list of links categorized by topics. Very impressive!

This site contains a list of very useful and extremely well documented sites, in French, German, Spanish and Italian. It also offers very clear explanations on the AS and A'level exams.
This link will also take you to an excellent dossier on pollution written in French by Ken Knight from Loreto College. (Look for the button marked Interactive Dossier in the light blue menu on the left when you get to the Modern Languages Home Page)
It's very detailed, yet the French remain at the right level for pupils. You'll be wondering how you ever taught the "pollution" topic without it!

"Talkingdice" is a brilliant site for all MFL teachers. For £5.85 (including p&p) you can buy a set of 6 printed dice on a lot of different topics all linked to the National Curriculum. This site also gives you loads of ideas on how to use the dice in the classroom. It's a great and cheap way to encourage students to speak in any language!

This site, created by the Guardian newspaper, offers reading, writing, listening and speaking exercises. It also provides a list of vocabulary for each topic that pupils can listen to as well as read.
The list of topics covered for year 7 is very extensive. The reading and listening exercises come with a "check" option, however the listening and speaking ones do not.
One drawback of this site is that some of the exercises cannot be done online and have to be done on paper with the correction available on screen.

This is a fun, interactive site with a lot of games, some of which can be played by two or more pupils
Exercises are added on a regular basis, so it is well worth checking this site regularly. Most of the topics follow the same pattern of exercises, such as matching French and English, wordsearches, flashcards.
Although this site is not aimed directly at GCSE pupils, it covers a lot of the topics studied and is an excellent tool to revise vocabulary and grammar at foundation level.
